One row connects with the ends of the bones in the forearm radius and ulna. There are four thumb tendons. The wrist is a complex mechanical system of 8 small bones known as the carpal bones.

Irritation of the protective sheath that surrounds the tendon of the affected thumb can cause the finger to get stuck in the bent position as one moves the thumb or fingers.
