The abdomen contains organs involved in the gastrointestinal tract including the oesophagus stomach small intestine cecum appendix colon rectum and the anal canal. Spleen is the biggest lymphoid organ present in the upper far left portion of the abdomen in the left hypochondrium and is surrounded by peritoneum.

The stomach is located between the esophagus and the small intestine in the upper left region of the abdomen.
