In common usage the arm extends to the hand. The muscle that extends or straightens the arm is the triceps which arises on the humerus and attaches to the ulna at the elbow.

The arm consists of several segments that together make it one of the most useful and complex tools of the human body.

This is known as nerve compression or a pinched nerve. Several of the muscles in your upper arm are connected to your shoulder. It contains four muscles three in the anterior compartment biceps brachii brachialis coracobrachialis and one in the posterior compartment triceps brachii.

It can be divided into the upper arm which extends from the shoulder to the elbow the forearm which extends from the elbow to the hand and the hand. The muscles of the arm and hand are specifically designed to meet the bodys diverse needs of strength speed and precision while completing many complex daily tasks. Activities such as lifting weights or heavy boxes require brute strength from the muscles of the arm.

Sometimes your muscles bones or tendons put too much pressure on nearby nerves. The upper arm is located between the shoulder joint and elbow joint. In human anatomy the arm is the part of the upper limb between the glenohumeral joint shoulder joint and the elbow joint.

The brachialis and biceps muscles act to bend the arm at the elbow. This hinged joint allows the arm to open up to 180 degrees at full extension.
