The Anatomy Of The Arm

The anatomy of the arm. The muscles of the arm and hand are specifically designed to meet the bodys diverse needs of strength speed and precision while completing many complex daily tasks.

The Anatomy Of The Arm

The arm is one of the bodys most complex and frequently used structures.

The anatomy of the arm. The upper arm bone that extends from the shoulder to the elbow is called the humerus. In the pronation position the line of the radius crosses the ulna. In the anatomy of the arm bones of the lower arm are called the ulna and the radius.

There are many muscles and ligaments attached to the humerus. It can be divided into the upper arm which extends from the shoulder to the elbow the forearm which extends from the elbow to the hand and the hand. This is a long bone that helps in supporting and moving the upper arm.

The upper arm is located between the shoulder joint and elbow joint. In common usage the arm extends to the hand. The radius extends diagonally from the outer end of the humerus to the side of the wrist closer to the thumb.

The brachialis and biceps muscles act to bend the arm at the elbow. The humerus is divided into 3 parts the round head the narrow neck and the tubercles. Activities such as lifting weights or heavy boxes require brute strength from the muscles of the arm.

The elbow joint humerus radius and ulna form a hinge joint. In terms of gross anatomy the arm refers to the portion between the shoulder and elbow joints. It contains four muscles three in the anterior compartment biceps brachii brachialis coracobrachialis and one in the posterior compartment triceps brachii.

The anatomy of the arm consists of only three bones but a number of muscles tendons and nerves. The ulna travels downward to the side of the wrist closer to the little finger. It is the scaffold of the arm and its main functions include forearm movement motion transmission and passage of neurovascular structures along the upper limb.

Well go over the bones joints muscles nerves and blood vessels that make up the human arm. Anatomy of bones of the arm. At the end of the forearm are the metacarpal bones which make up the wrist joint and attach the hand to the arm.

In human anatomy the arm is the part of the upper limb between the glenohumeral joint shoulder joint and the elbow joint. A number of smaller muscles cover the radius and ulna and act to move the hand and fingers in various ways. The capitulum of the humerus articulates with the upper aspect of the head of the radius humeroradial joint the trochlea of the humerus articulates with the trochlear notch of the ulna humero ulnar joint.

The muscle that extends or straightens the arm is the triceps which arises on the humerus and attaches to the ulna at the elbow.
