I thought i would need to drink a bunch of water but turns out that was not needed. He was measuring to the date in size.

Yesterday at 16 weeks 6 days i had my first anatomy scan.
Anatomy scan 17 weeks. Babies didnt show the goods until the second ultrasound but 17 weeks is far enough along to do all the measuring and checking to make sure all is a ok with baby anyways. It went well but i am glad to have the talk behind me. I had a full up ultrasound 8 weeks later just to much sure he was growing on track.
There was no problem either time getting all the measurements needed but i think 17 weeks might be a tad early. All of my anatomy scans were done around 17 weeks. A level 2 ultrasound is a special test that gives you a very specific glimpse of your growing baby.
These days its pretty much routine for women in their second trimester to be scheduled for a level 2 ultrasound commonly called the 20 week anatomy scan. Im sure if your doc wants you to have one in a few weeks they will tell you and schedule another one anyways. If you keep it just be prepared to go back for additional measurements. Find out what youll see when you have yours.

The anatomy scan is a level 2 ultrasound which is typically performed on pregnant women between 18 and 22 weeks. Its usually recommended between 18 22 weeks. Most likely they will do one at 17 and one more towards the end of your second trimester.
